My retinal tear

Well, it can happen to any of us and it was my turn. Last week I experienced an optical event where my right eye vision was blurry and occluded by a massive vitreous floater. My optometric exam found some hemmoraging but no tear. The major concern with this kind of event is of a detached retina, and as I am very myopic I am prone to a detached retina and so The Watch began. On my follow up visit a week later a sizeable retinal tear was detected and so I was immediately sent to a retinal specialist who confirmed the diagnosis and then repaired the tear with laser surgery. The next day I had remarkeable improvement and my chances of having a detached retina were reduced to less than 1%.

Definity orders to be delayed 3-4 weeks

the unofficial word from Essilor regarding the delay in processing Definity Rx orders from the Dallas Processing Center is that the demand for Definity has exceeded Essilor's projections by over 50% . Therefore, there will be processing delays until the Dallas Processing Center is at full capacity.

Definity in disarray

We have learned today from the Essilor Dallas Processing Center that new Definity orders being process there will be delayed 3-4 weeks. It is not clear yet if this delay applies to all materials.

More Definity Lens Information

Definity Lens has informed us they are no longer processing polycarbonate and polycarbonate Transitions in Roanoke as they have run out of material. We will be able to order these materials after the move to Dallas next week.

News about Definity Progressive Lenses

As many of you know Essilor has purchased the Definity Progressive Lens from Johnson & Johnson. We have processed a number of these lenses with mixed results and have been experiencing some delivery and quality issues from the Definity lab. Currently, they are running about a two day backlog (that's what they told us yesterday) . On December 28th the processing of Definity lenses will move to the Dallas Definity Processing Center(DDPC) which will permit us to send our Definity orders to them electronically. (Presently we fax them to Roanoke,Va.)
